Maruti Suzuki India Green Hydrogen Plant: Key Details
The 300 kW electrolyser plant is designed to use solar power generated at Maruti Suzuki India’s Manesar Facility to produce green hydrogen.
According to the company, the solar energy produced during holidays, when manufacturing is reduced and some of the power would otherwise remain unused, will be used to produce hydrogen, which will then be stored and used later in manufacturing operations.
The aim of the initiative is to enhance the use of renewable energy and to decrease the company's reliance on conventional fuels in its manufacturing processes.
Maruti Suzuki India Plans To Expand Green Hydrogen Use
Maruti Suzuki India said that it plans to apply the experience gained from the pilot project for expanding green hydrogen technology at its manufacturing plants in Haryana and Gujarat.
The initiative draws inspiration from Suzuki Motor Corporation's (SMC's) philosophy of "Sho-Sho-Kei-Tan-Bi", which emphasises the use of smaller, fewer, lighter and shorter resources together with an improvement in efficiency.
Meanwhile, the company stated that it would keep on concentrating on improving resource efficiency and on optimising energy consumption in its manufacturing operations.
