Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured mega orders worth ₹10,000-15,000 crore for its Metals & Minerals business. The contracts strengthen L&T's order book as investments in India's mining and metals sector continue to gather pace.
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has won multiple domestic contracts for its metals and minerals business, with the combined value of the orders falling in the company's 'mega' category. According to L&T's classification, mega orders are those valued between ₹10,000 crore and ₹15,000 crore.
The engineering and construction major disclosed the development in a regulatory filing on Monday.
Iron Ore Handling Project Awarded In Chhattisgarh
One of the key contracts has come from a public-sector enterprise that is also India's largest iron ore producer.
The order forms part of the company's long-term plan to raise its iron ore production capacity to 100 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) by 2030.
Under the project, L&T will execute Package BE-01C for an 18 MTPA iron ore handling plant in Chhattisgarh.
Its responsibilities include the design, engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of the downhill conveyor system, screening plant, stockyard facilities, yard equipment, a Rapid Wagon Loading System (RWLS) and related auxiliary infrastructure.
Orders Also Include Steel And Zinc Projects
Apart from the mining project, L&T has received another order from a Navratna public-sector company for the expansion of a steel plant in West Bengal.
The project will increase the plant's production capacity from 2.5 MTPA to 7.1 MTPA.
The company has also secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a zinc processing plant.
The scope covers engineering, procurement, installation, commissioning and associated on-site services, further strengthening L&T's presence in complex non-ferrous metallurgy projects.
Management Highlights Growth Opportunity
Commenting on the latest order wins, S. N. Subrahmanyan, Chairman and Managing Director of L&T, said the contracts reinforce the company's long-standing position in the metals and minerals EPC business and reflect customer confidence in its ability to execute large and complex projects.
He noted that with capacity expansion gathering pace across India's metals and minerals sector, L&T intends to remain closely involved in upcoming industrial infrastructure projects by working alongside some of the country's leading enterprises.
