Hindustan Zinc Q1 Results 2026: Net Profit Jumps 145% to ₹5,469 Crore; Silver Revenue Soars 169%

Hindustan Zinc reported a sharp rise in June-quarter earnings, driven by higher metal prices, improved production and strong growth in its silver business. Here's a look at the key financial metrics, management commentary and the stock's market reaction.
Hindustan Zinc reported its Q1 Results 2026 on Friday, July 24, posting a 145% year-on-year jump in consolidated net profit to ₹5,469 crore for the April-June quarter, compared with ₹2,234 crore in the corresponding period last year.
The Vedanta Group-owned company Hindustan Zinc’s revenue from operations rose 77% YoY to ₹13,747 crore from ₹7,771 crore a year ago, while total expenses increased 33% to ₹6,749 crore, according to the company's exchange filing. On a sequential basis, net profit rose nearly 9% from ₹5,033 crore in the March quarter, while revenue increased 1.5%. Total expenses declined about 5% quarter-on-quarter.
The company said the quarter benefited from higher metal prices, increased metal production, lead concentrate sales, improved by-product realisations and a stronger US dollar. Net profit margin improved to 40% from 29% a year earlier and 37% in the preceding quarter, while operating margin expanded to 52%.
Hindustan Zinc Q1 Results 2026
The zinc, lead and other metals business remained the company's largest revenue contributor, with revenue rising 49.5% year-on-year to ₹9,146 crore from ₹6,116 crore.
Silver continued to outperform during the quarter, with revenue surging 169% YoY to ₹3,839 crore from ₹1,426 crore. However, silver revenue declined around 5% sequentially.
The Wind Energy business reported revenue of ₹48 crore, largely unchanged from ₹49 crore in the year-ago quarter, while segment earnings stood at ₹27 crore compared with ₹29 crore a year earlier.
Gross investments and cash stood at ₹12,892 crore as of June 30, 2026, while total borrowings were ₹7,320 crore. Free cash flow before growth capex came in at ₹5,253 crore. The company's net worth more than doubled to ₹23,587 crore from a year ago, while its debt-to-equity ratio improved to 0.32 times from 1.19 times.
Separately, the board appointed Amarendu Prakash as Chief Executive Officer and Whole-time Director with effect from August 1, 2026. Prakash previously served as Chairman and Managing Director of Steel Authority of India (SAIL).
Commenting on the results, Chief Executive Officer Arun Misra said the company's debottlenecking initiatives continue to improve refined metal production and strengthen its position among the world's lowest-cost zinc producers. He added that demand for zinc remains supported by infrastructure spending and the global energy transition.
The board also reviewed an administrative warning letter issued by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in April and said the identified non-compliances were inadvertent. The company reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards of corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
Hindustan Zinc Share Price
Hindustan Zinc shares traded in a narrow range after the results announcement. The stock touched an intraday high of ₹534.40 before ending 0.47% higher at ₹533.65 on the NSE.
The stock has gained more than 19% over the past year but remains down around 13% in 2026 so far. Hindustan Zinc hit a 52-week high of ₹733 on January 27, 2026, and a 52-week low of ₹413.50 on August 1, 2025. The company's market capitalisation stood at around ₹2.25 lakh crore at Friday's close.
