HDFC Bank Q1FY27 results indicate a net profit of ₹19,059.72 crore. However, the earnings missed Street estimates as both profit and net interest income came in below expectations. Following the results, the bank's shares fell more than 4% on Monday morning.

HDFC Bank Q1 FY27 results are out. The country's largest private-sector bank's June-quarter earnings left the Street wanting more. Although the bank posted higher profit and interest income than a year ago, both numbers fell short of analysts' expectations, prompting a negative reaction from investors when trading opened on Monday.

The bank announced its financial results over the weekend, with the stock coming under pressure in the following session.

For the quarter ended June 2026, HDFC Bank posted a standalone net profit of ₹19,059.72 crore, up 4.98% from the corresponding quarter last year. The result, however, was lower than the Street estimate of ₹19,332 crore.

The bank also earned ₹33,535.95 crore as net interest income (NII) during the quarter, reflecting a 6.7% increase from a year earlier. Even so, this too remained below the Street expectation of ₹34,353 crore.

HDFC Bank's net interest margin (NIM) stood at 3.26% on total assets during the April-June period.

Asset quality, meanwhile, remained largely stable.

By the end of June 2026, the bank's GNPA (gross non-performing asset) ratio was at 1.17%, and the net NPA ratio was 0.41%. The figures indicate that loan portfolio related stress remains under control.

The market response was swift after the quarterly numbers were announced.

HDFC Bank shares dropped more than 4% in early trade on Monday, touching ₹784.45, after closing at ₹819.60 in the previous session.

The decline added to the stock's weak performance this year. Before Monday's fall, HDFC Bank had already slipped 17.2% in 2026, compared with a 6.9% decline in the Nifty 50. The lender currently has a market capitalisation of more than ₹12.64 lakh crore.
