ESDS Software Share Price Fall Nearly 30% In 6 Sessions, Hit 5% Lower Circuit On Monday: What Is Driving The Sell-off?

ESDS Software shares hit the 5% lower circuit at ₹1,360 on Monday, taking their six-session fall to nearly 30% as 2.5 million shares became eligible for trading.
The ESDS Software share price hit the 5% lower circuit at ₹1,360 on Monday, extending their losing streak to six sessions and taking the stock's decline to nearly 30% over the period.
The stock had been among India's best-performing IPOs (Initial Public Offerings) of 2026. It debuted on 4 September at a 76% premium to its issue price. The correction gathered pace after ESDS reported its first-quarter results last week, with revenue and profit falling sharply from the previous quarter.
The ESDS share price was trading at ₹1,362.40 apiece, down 5% at 12:36 pm IST.
Why Are ESDS Software Shares Falling?
The selloff follows the expiry of the one-month shareholder lock-in, which has put additional shares into the tradable pool. Around 2.5 million ESDS Software shares became eligible for trading on Monday.
The expiry, however, does not mean that these shares have been sold. It only allows the shareholders to trade them in the market.
The timing comes after a sharp run-up in the stock. From its ₹429 IPO price, ESDS shares more than quadrupled to ₹1,859.20 within days of listing. The stock subsequently entered a correction phase following its Q1 FY27 results.
What Did ESDS Software Report In Q1 FY27?
ESDS Software Solutions reported ₹133.7 crore in operating revenue for Q1 FY27, up 7.3% year-on-year. Sequentially, however, revenue declined 20.2% from ₹167.5 crore in the previous quarter.
Profit after tax rose 14% year-on-year to ₹29.3 crore but fell about 57% sequentially from ₹67.7 crore.
The pace of revenue growth was also slower than the company's performance between FY24 and FY26. ESDS had recorded a revenue CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of around 28.4% during that period.
That moderation has become an important point for the stock after its rapid post-listing rise.
Why Is Valuation A Key Focus For ESDS Software?
The stock's sharp rise has pushed valuation well above the level at its IPO. The valuation is at around 42 times FY26 earnings at the IPO, compared with roughly 140-170 times currently.
The broader investment theme remains linked to India's data-centre, cloud and AI infrastructure expansion. The sector is expected to benefit from cloud adoption, data localisation, digitalisation and AI workloads, with large capital commitments from hyperscalers and domestic companies.
ESDS is positioned as a full-stack sovereign-cloud and AI-infrastructure provider, with expansion plans supported by IPO proceeds. Its near-term performance will therefore remain linked to capacity additions, contract delivery and the pace at which its AI-related infrastructure expands.
The stock's recent rally had combined this thematic interest with a limited post-listing float. With more shares now eligible for trading and Q1 showing a sequential slowdown, both valuation and execution remain key factors in the stock's next phase.
