Adani Energy Solutions Bags ₹4,700 Crore Maharashtra Transmission Project; Shares Rise

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd has bagged a transmission project in Maharashtra with an estimated capital outlay of nearly ₹4,700 crore to evacuate renewable energy and to support pumped storage capacity up to 4,500 MW. Read ahead to know more.
Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has secured a transmission project in Maharashtra carrying an estimated capital expenditure of around ₹4,700 crore, designed to evacuate renewable energy and support pumped storage capacity of up to 4,500 megawatt (MW).
The company won the mandate through the tariff-based competitive bidding process after emerging as the lowest bidder, and the project will be executed under the special purpose vehicle Satara Power Transmission Ltd, with a construction timeline of 36 months.
After the deal announcement, Adani Energy Solutions shares were up 0.97% at ₹1605.41 as of 11:10 AM on 26 August.
Why This Project Matters
Named "Network Expansion Scheme in Western Region to Cater to Pumped Storage Potential near Satara (up to 4500 MW) - Part A", the project is centred on two linked objectives.
It will carry renewable power generated in Karnataka to major demand centres in Maharashtra, and it will simultaneously enable the pumped storage capacity being developed around Satara, Pune and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Once complete, the network will add 562 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity to the company's existing infrastructure base.
Key Components Being Built
The build-out involves a 765/400 kV substation coming up at Satara, along with a 765 kV double-circuit line connecting Kolhapur and Satara.
The existing Kolhapur pooling station will also be expanded, supported by associated transmission works.
With this addition, Adani Energy Solutions' overall transmission network is set to grow to 29,739 circuit kilometres, while its transformation capacity will rise to 1,43,425 MVA. The win takes the company's total transmission order book to approximately ₹85,000 crore.
Management's View On The Win
Kandarp Patel, CEO of Adani Energy Solutions Ltd, said pumped storage has become an important enabler of India's clean energy transition, given the flexibility and reliability it offers for integrating large volumes of renewable power into the grid.
He described the Satara project as a transmission backbone that would support both renewable evacuation and storage deployment while strengthening power flows between southern and western India.
Patel added that the company remains focused on developing transmission infrastructure that backs renewable capacity growth, improves grid stability and supports the country's broader decarbonisation goals.
