Tata Motors has received 3,400+ orders for electric commercial vehicles. The order book includes about 2,000 small commercial vehicles and pick-ups, close to 900 trucks and around 500 buses.

According to Tata Motors, the vehicles will be deployed across freight movement, logistics operations and passenger transportation networks. The latest wins come as more fleet operators incorporate electric vehicles into day-to-day operations rather than limiting them to trial deployments.

A large portion of the orders will be deployed in e-commerce, FMCG and consumer durables distribution, as well as logistics operations.

The trucks are headed to sectors such as cement, steel and mining. Some vehicles will also be used for airport tarmac operations. The bus orders cover both city and intercity routes.

The order book spans a wide range of use cases, from urban deliveries to industrial freight movement.

The company said the latest order inflow points to increasing customer confidence in deploying electric vehicles at scale.

Its small commercial vehicle portfolio includes the Ace Pro EV, Ace EV and Intra EV, which are targeted at last-mile and intra-city operations.

In trucks, the company offers the Ultra EV range in the 7-12 tonne category. Tata Motors offers the Prima EV 55T tractor and Prima EV 28T tipper for heavier cargo operations.

In passenger transport, the automaker markets electric buses under the Starbus EV and Ultra EV brands for urban and inter-city mobility requirements.

The company said more than 3,800 Tata electric buses are currently operating across various cities. Collectively, these buses have covered over 55 crore kilometres. In the small commercial vehicle category, more than 17,000 Tata electric SCVs are already running on Indian roads.

Alongside vehicle sales, Tata Motors has been investing in the supporting ecosystem required for commercial EV deployment.

Its network includes partnerships with more than 14 charging point operators. The company has also established EV-focused financing arrangements with banks and non-banking finance companies.

Additional services include fleet monitoring through the Fleet Edge platform and uptime assurance programmes designed to minimise operational disruptions.

Tata Motors said its approach centres on providing end-to-end electric mobility solutions that combine vehicles, charging infrastructure, financing and fleet management support as businesses increasingly shift towards zero-emission transportation.
