Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) will invest ₹2,449 crore to build and operate a natural gas pipeline connecting Kochi in Kerala with Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu through Kanyakumari.
The project will cover 424.65 kilometre (km) and add to gas connectivity in southern India.
On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Indian Oil shares closed at ₹136.53 on 21 September 2026, down 0.34% from the previous close of ₹137. The stock opened at ₹136.90 and touched a high of ₹137.71 before declining to a low of ₹136.34.
Indian Oil Pipeline To Add Gas Capacity And Connectivity
The pipeline will have an overall capacity of 6.84 million standard cubic metres per day (MMSCMD). Of this, 1.71 MMSCMD will be available as common carrier capacity, according to the company.
The investment by Indian Oil is part of a broader drive to enhance India’s natural gas infrastructure and connectivity. The development also seeks to increase the share of petrol in the country’s energy mix and aid cleaner fuel choices.
