The Indian stock market indices soared more than 1.5% as markets reopened on Wednesday. This mainly happened after the US president said peace talks with Iran could resume within two to three days.
As the markets reopened on Wednesday (15 April 2026), most indices soared sharply. Notably, domestic markets remained shut on Tuesday on account of Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti, with trading across equity and derivatives segments suspended.
At around 9:15 AM, the Sensex was up by around 1,300 points (1.7%) to trade at 78,161.80. The Nifty 50 was also trading higher by around 380 points (1.9%) at 24,223.60.
The primary reasons attributed to this rise are the renewed hopes of peace talks between the US and Iranian forces and positive global cues.

At around 9:20 AM, Bank Nifty was up by around 1.9% to trade at 56,660.90. The Fin Nifty was also up by around 1.86% to trade at 26,527.35.
