BSE And NSE Holiday 2026: Markets To Remain Closed On 10 November While A Special Diwali Muhurat Trading Session On 08 November
NSE and BSE will observe the Diwali-Balipratipada holiday on 10 November 2026, while the Muhurat Trading session will take place on 08 November.

The NSE and BSE will remain closed on 10 November 2026 for Diwali-Balipratipada. Investors can take part in a special Muhurat Trading session from 2:20 pm to 3:30 pm on 08 November.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain open on Diwali, Sunday, 08 November 2026, before shutting down on 10 November 2026. The exchanges will observe the Diwali-Balipratipada holiday on Tuesday.

Besides this NSE holiday, investors will still have an opportunity to trade during the special Muhurat Trading session on Sunday. The exchanges have scheduled this session from 2:20 pm to 3:30 pm, rather than the usual equity-market hours of 9:15 am to 3:30 pm.

The Muhurat Trading 2026 session will begin with the pre-open period at 2:05 pm. Investors may place markets and limit orders until 2:10 pm. Only limit orders will be taken from 2:10 pm to 2:15 pm.

Order matching and confirmation are scheduled from 2:15 pm to 2:17 pm, followed by a buffer period until 2:20 pm. Continuous trading will then run until 3:30 pm. Trades executed during the session will result in settlement obligations.

The commodity segment will also operate during the special session. The Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) will hold its special session from 2:05 pm to 2:19 pm, followed by trading between 2:20 pm and 3:30 pm.

A total of 16 stock market holidays were scheduled for 2026, of which 13 had passed by 06 November 2026. After the Diwali-Balipratipada closure, investors should note these two remaining full-day holidays:

The exchanges had already observed holidays for Good Friday, Dr B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti, Maharashtra Day, Bakri Id, Muharram, Ganesh Chaturthi, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra, among others.
