Positive developments in Asian markets also boosted sentiment. They added to the momentum in domestic equities. Broader markets also traded higher. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was up 0.27% at 12:13 pm, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index was down by 0.01% during the same time.

The following stocks were the top performers on the Nifty 50 index at around 12:14 pm:

  • IRFC shares fell 2% in early trade after the offer for sale (OFS) opened for retail investors.

  • Sterlite Technologies shares surged 5% in early trade after the company moved ahead with its qualified institutions placement of equity shares.

  • LIC shares fell a little over 2% in early trade after the stock turned ex-dividend for its ₹10 final dividend payment for FY26.

  • Tata Chemicals shares rose 4% in early trade after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) unveiled new regulations boosting hopes for the listing of Tata Sons.

  • InterGlobe Aviation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation shares rallied in the range of 1% to above 3% in intraday deals as Brent crude slipped to a fresh low of around $72 per barrel.
