Nifty Pharma Index Hits Record High As Laurus Labs, Sun Pharma And Piramal Pharma Rally Up To 6%
Nifty Pharma index rallies over 2% to a record high of 27,263.95.

The Nifty Pharma index touched a record high of 27,263.95 on 30 October after rising more than 2% during intraday trading. Laurus Labs, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, and Piramal Pharma were among the major gainers. There was also strong buying in other pharmaceutical stocks.

The Nifty Pharma index touched a fresh record high of 27,263.95 on 30 October, surpassing its previous peak of 27,255.05 recorded on 24 September.

The index advanced more than 2% on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) during intraday trading, supported by strong buying across pharmaceutical companies and contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) stocks.

Although a few companies gained more than the other, this Nifty Pharma rally extended across large and mid-sized pharmaceutical companies.

The Laurus Labs share price climbed 7.20% to close at ₹2,405.50 on the NSE. The stock had gained 21% over the preceding week, following the company's September-quarter FY27 results. It had also recovered substantially from its 52-week low of ₹917.95, recorded on 2 February. It has gained approximately 117% year-to-date (YTD).

Piramal Pharma shares touched a 52-week high of ₹240 before closing the day at ₹238.91 on the NSE after advancing 4% during intraday trade. Its shares had gained 25% over the preceding week after the company raised its FY27 revenue growth outlook to 19–20%, alongside an expectation of meaningfully higher profitability.

The Sun Pharma share price also increased to ₹1,777.7 on the NSE after the company reported its September-quarter results. Sales increased 11.8% year on year (YoY) to ₹16,100 crore, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) grew 4.8% to ₹4,743.9 crore.

The buying interest in pharma stocks reflects a combination of company-specific developments and broader momentum in CDMO businesses.

The gains across several pharmaceutical companies suggest that the rally was not restricted to a single stock. Zydus Lifesciences, Sai Life Sciences and Ajanta Pharma were also among the notable movers. Meanwhile, Mankind Pharma, Ipca Laboratories, Torrent Pharmaceuticals, Divi's Laboratories, Cipla and Aurobindo Pharma also recorded gains during the session.
