Gold And Silver Today: Three Factors Driving The Fall And Why A 10-15% Rebound Could Be The Next Key Trigger For Bullion Investors
Gold and silver prices face pressure from a stronger dollar, rising crude oil and interest rate uncertainty.

Gold and silver prices fell amid a stronger US dollar and rising inflation concerns. Investors were also cautious ahead of the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision. However, the outlook points to a possible 10-15% rebound, even as further downside remains a risk.

Gold rate today and silver prices came under pressure on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, as investors assessed the US interest rate outlook, dollar strength and renewed tensions in West Asia.

On the Commodity Exchange, Inc. (COMEX) at 09:56 am, gold was at $4,055.80 per ounce, down $18.80 or 0.46%. Silver fell $0.458, or 0.84%, to $54.055 per ounce. These movements put gold and silver rate trends in focus for investors.

The first pressure point is the stronger US dollar, which makes dollar-priced bullion more expensive for buyers using other currencies. Expectations that US interest rates could remain elevated have also weighed on precious metals, which do not generate interest income. Investors were awaiting the Federal Reserve’s policy decision and guidance on 28 October 2026.

The second factor is rising crude oil prices. At 10:02 am, Brent crude gained 1.33% to $115.392 per barrel. Higher oil prices can add to inflation and strengthen expectations of elevated interest rates. At the same time, geopolitical tensions may support safe-haven demand for gold.

The third factor is industrial demand. Silver also has added exposure to manufacturing activity. Silver saw stronger selling pressure below $54 an ounce on concerns about industrial demand. These are reasons that could affect today's gold and silver price swings.

Gold of 99.9% purity declined by ₹500 to ₹1.45 lakh per 10 grams in New Delhi on Tuesday, 27 October 2026. Silver declined by ₹4,000 to ₹1.98 lakh per kilogram (kg), according to the All India Sarafa Association.

As of today, 28 October 2026, in Delhi, gold of 99.9% purity was at ₹1.44 lakh per 10 grams. Silver reached ₹2.20 lakh per kg.

The domestic silver and gold rate today may differ from international prices due to currency movements, import costs, duties and local market conditions. Investors tracking gold and silver prices should therefore distinguish between international benchmarks and local bullion prices.

The outlook remains mixed. A possibility of gold declining towards $3,950 per ounce and silver towards $50 per ounce is estimated. It also points to a potential 10-15% rebound as the two metals attempt to build a base. But this is not a guaranteed recovery.

For investors monitoring the silver rate today, industrial demand will remain an additional factor alongside the dollar, crude oil and Federal Reserve guidance. The gold rate and silver rate outlook will depend on how these pressures evolve. A price decline alone does not determine whether bullion is suitable for an investor; investment horizon, portfolio allocation, liquidity needs and short-term volatility also matter.
