Wipro Limited is in focus after signing an agreement to acquire a 20% stake in FLARRE.AI, Inc. for $2,000 through its step-down subsidiary, Wipro IT Services, LLC. The deal aims to strengthen Wipro’s artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in the global insurance sector and is expected to be completed by 31 October 2026.

Wipro shares closed 1.58% higher at ₹173.70 on Thursday, taking the company’s market capitalisation to ₹1.72 lakh crore. The announcement comes after the information technology (IT) services company reported its second-quarter financial results for FY27.

At 9:50 AM on Friday, Wipro share price stood at ₹181.10, up 4.05%.

FLARRE.AI develops AI tools for insurance companies. Its software agents work across core insurance platforms, helping insurers roll out new products and handle upgrades, system expansions and migrations.

The platform also brings AI into everyday insurance operations, such as assessing risk during underwriting and processing claims. Its tools are designed to help insurers manage these tasks across different stages of their business.

By combining an insurance-focused orchestration platform with an insurance knowledge graph and an enterprise AI control plane, FLARRE.AI aims to improve operational efficiency across the insurance value chain.

Wipro’s FLARRE.AI acquisition would enhance its AI capabilities for the global insurance sector. The transaction will be made in cash, and no government or regulatory approval is required, according to the company’s filing.

Wipro reported a 4.5% sequential decline in consolidated net profit to ₹3,200.6 crore in the September quarter. Revenue from operations, however, increased 1.1% quarter-on-quarter to ₹24,752.7 crore.

IT services revenue stood at $2,611.5 million, down 0.1% sequentially in reported dollar terms. In constant currency terms, revenue remained flat quarter-on-quarter but grew 0.6% year-on-year.

The IT services operating margin improved to 16.5% from 16% in the June quarter, expanding by 50 basis points.

However, deal bookings weakened. Total contract bookings fell 22.9% sequentially to $2.595 billion in constant currency terms. Large deal bookings dropped 58.6% to $674 million from $1.626 billion in the preceding quarter.
