Vodafone Idea Q1 FY 2026-27 results: Revenue rises 6% to ₹11,689 crore, EBITDA up 9.1% to ₹5,034 crore. The company also reported its first quarterly net subscriber addition since the merger of Vodafone and Idea.
Vodafone Idea Ltd. (Vi) saw a 6% increase in revenue from operations to ₹11,689 crore. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 9.1% to ₹5,034 crore. The EBITDA margin remained at 43.1%, improving by 122 basis points compared with the year-ago quarter.
Vodafone Idea reported a net loss of ₹3,754 crore for the quarter, compared with a loss of ₹6,608 crore in Q1 FY26. The company had reported a profit in the March quarter due to exceptional items. The company incurred capital expenditure of ₹1,930 crore during the quarter as it accelerated network expansion.
Debt from banks stood at ₹211 crore, while cash and bank balances increased to ₹6,558 crore after the receipt of proceeds from its warrant issue. The company also secured ₹6,400 crore through warrants and fund-based and non-fund-based facilities during the quarter.
VI Q1 FY 2026-27: Performance Summary
A key milestone for Vi was the return to subscriber growth. The company ended the quarter with 193.1 million subscribers, slightly higher than 192.8 million in the previous quarter, marking its first quarter of positive net subscriber additions since the merger.
Average revenue per user (ARPU) rose to ₹195 from ₹177 a year earlier, a 10.2% increase, which the company said was supported by customer upgrades. It described this as the highest ARPU growth in the industry.
The number of 4G and 5G subscribers increased to 130.1 million, while daily data usage climbed nearly 28% year-on-year to 88.4 petabytes, showing continued growth in data consumption.
The company also placed ₹9,000 crore worth of capital expenditure orders, including equipment from Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung and other partners, as part of its three-year ₹45,000 crore network investment plan.
Management Commentary And Stock Price
Chief Executive Officer Abhijit Kishore said FY27 will be a year focused on execution, adding that the company's investments are now translating into better operating performance. He said subscriber additions, revenue growth, higher EBITDA and the rollout of 5G across more than 200 cities indicate that the strategy is beginning to deliver results.
After the announcement was made on 10 August, Vodafone Idea's share price increased 1.49% to close the day at ₹12.92 on the National Stock Exchange.
