VA Tech Wabag shares gained more than 3% in early trade on Monday, 7 September, after the company announced a repeat order from Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) for an effluent treatment plant (ETP) in Jamnagar.

The share price touched ₹2,064 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) during the session after trading at around ₹2,040.90 in early trade. The shares have also delivered strong returns over the longer term, gaining nearly 34% in the past year and more than 300% over three years.

However, at 12:32 PM, the VA Tech Wabag share price fell 0.16% to ₹2,002.00.

VA Tech Wabag said the order from RIL has been classified as a “Medium” order because it exceeds the internal threshold of ₹100 crore but is within ₹250 crore.

The contract covers the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, and commissioning of an ETP at the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar.

The facility is expected to be completed within 13 months. It will use chemical and biological treatment technologies, along with a sludge treatment system based on low-temperature drying. The system is aimed at improving the management of sludge generated during the treatment process.

The company said that its promoters, promoter group and group companies do not hold any interest in the entity that awarded the contract. It also confirmed that the order does not fall under related-party transactions.

Sivakumar V, Senior General Manager – Sales and Marketing, India Cluster, said the repeat order strengthens the company’s long-standing relationship with RIL. He added that the order shows RIL continues to rely on WABAG for its water and wastewater treatment needs.

The latest contract adds to a series of order wins announced by the company in recent months.

In August, the company signed a contract for the Doha SWRO Desalination Plant with Recarbonation System – Stage II in Kuwait. The project was awarded in June 2026 by Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water & Renewable Energy.

In July, Va Tech Wabag announced a major order from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for two wastewater treatment facilities in Bengaluru. The order was classified as a “Large” contract valued at ₹250 crore to ₹600 crore.

Under the project, WABAG will handle the design, build and operate scope for a 100 million litres per day (MLD) sewage treatment plant and a 25 MLD tertiary treatment plant at Byramangala, along with a 60 MLD sewage treatment plant at Bellandur.

The latest win comes on the back of other large projects announced by the company in recent months, keeping its order book in focus.
