TVS Motor reported a strong Q1 FY27 performance, with net profit rising 51.3% year-on-year to ₹1,174 crore and revenue increasing 38% to a record ₹13,896 crore. EBITDA and margins improved, while the company beat Street estimates across key financial metrics and reported record quarterly vehicle sales.

TVS Motor on Tuesday, July 21, reported a 51.3% year-on-year increase in net profit to ₹1,174 crore for the April-June quarter (Q1 FY27), compared with ₹776 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

The reported profit included a fair valuation gain of ₹150 crore on investments, against a gain of ₹28 crore in the year-ago period. Other income rose to ₹151 crore from ₹35 crore a year earlier, while tax expense increased to ₹415 crore from ₹274 crore.

Revenue from operations rose 37.8% year-on-year to a record ₹13,896 crore from ₹10,081 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

EBITDA also reached a record ₹1,779 crore, up 41% year-on-year from ₹1,260 crore, while EBITDA margin improved to 12.8% from 12.5% a year ago.

The company said higher commodity prices amid global market uncertainties increased input costs during the quarter. However, it partly offset the impact through price revisions, cost optimisation initiatives and operating leverage.

TVS Motor's June quarter performance exceeded Street expectations across all major financial parameters.

The company reported net profit of ₹1,174 crore against analysts' estimate of ₹990 crore. Revenue came in at ₹13,896 crore versus an estimated ₹13,488 crore, while EBITDA stood at ₹1,779 crore compared with the Street estimate of ₹1,613 crore. EBITDA margin of 12.8% also exceeded expectations of 12%.

TVS Motor recorded its highest-ever quarterly sales during the April-June period, with overall two- and three-wheeler sales rising 28% year-on-year to 1.63 million units from 1.28 million units.

Motorcycle sales increased 19% to 0.74 million units, while scooter sales climbed 36% to 0.68 million units. Three-wheeler sales rose 48% to 66,697 units.

International business continued to remain strong, with overseas sales growing 33% to 0.47 million units from 0.35 million units a year earlier.

Electric two-wheeler sales surged 86% year-on-year to 129,940 units from 70,060 units, with the company stating that it has now crossed the milestone of one million EV customers.

The Board of Directors approved a proposal to raise up to ₹1,000 crore through the issuance of Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs), Commercial Papers or other permissible borrowing instruments, which will be undertaken from time to time based on funding requirements.

Shares of the company surged as much as 6% to an intraday high of ₹3,808.50 on the NSE after the earnings announcement, outperforming the broader market even as the Nifty 50 traded 0.32% lower during the session.
