Tata Steel India Business Hits Record Volumes
Tata Steel India records 6.21 MT production in Q2 FY27, with record volumes across key segments.

Tata Steel's September-quarter operating performance strengthened across its India business, with higher output from key plants accompanied by new volume highs across automotive, retail and branded products.

Tata Steel's India business recorded higher production and deliveries in Q2 FY27, while key customer segments scaled fresh volume records during the September quarter. India crude steel production reached 6.21 million tonnes (MT), rising 10% year-on-year and 8% sequentially, while deliveries increased 7% from a year earlier and 15% quarter-on-quarter to 5.97 MT.

Higher output at Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar supported production during the quarter, while India deliveries increased despite seasonal rains amid stable demand across market segments. For H1 FY27, Tata Steel India's crude steel production rose 10% year-on-year to 11.97 MT, while deliveries increased 8% to 11.14 MT.

Tata Steel shares closed at ₹175.64 on the NSE on Wednesday, October 7, down 1.71%. The provisional production and delivery update was released after market hours.

Tata Steel India produced 6.21 MT of crude steel during the September quarter, up 10% year-on-year and 8% sequentially, primarily due to higher production at Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar.

India deliveries reached 5.97 MT, rising 7% from the corresponding quarter last year and 15% from Q1 FY27. The company said deliveries increased despite seasonal rains, supported by higher production, an enriched product mix and stable demand across market segments.
