Tata Steel To Raise TMILL Stake To 74% After CCI Approval

Tata Steel has received CCI approval to acquire an additional 23% stake in TM International Logistics from IQ Martrade. Once completed, the deal will raise Tata Steel’s holding in the logistics joint venture to 74%.
Tata Steel has received approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to acquire an additional 23% stake in TM International Logistics Ltd (TMILL).
The transaction will make Tata Steel the majority shareholder in the logistics joint venture. The steelmaker will buy the entire 23% stake held by its existing joint venture partner IQ Martrade Holding Und Management GmbH.
Once the deal is completed, IQ Martrade will exit TMILL, and Tata Steel’s holding will increase to 74%.
IQ Martrade To Exit TM International Logistics
CCI approved the proposed combination on Tuesday. The regulator said the transaction involves Tata Steel acquiring the full 23% equity holding of IQ Martrade in TMILL.
The third partner in the joint venture, NYK Europe, will continue to hold its existing 26% stake after the transaction.
The transaction is subject to completion of the required steps by the companies.
TMILL Was Set Up As Tata Steel Joint Venture
TM International Logistics was established as a joint venture between Tata Steel, IQ Martrade and NYK Europe. The three partners originally held 51%, 23% and 26% stakes, respectively.
TMILL was set up mainly to handle Tata Steel’s logistics and cargo transportation requirements. The company operates as a public limited company.
Following completion of the proposed acquisition, Tata Steel and NYK Europe will hold 74% and 26% of TMILL, respectively.
Market Reaction
As of 12:43 PM on Wednesday (19 August 2026), Tata Steel shares were trading at ₹184.16 at the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The stock is down 0.72% from its previous session’s closing price.
