Tata Power Commissions 400kV Jalpura-Khurja Transmission Corridor; Adds 1,000 MVA Substation
Tata Power Shares Rise 1% After Commissioning ₹400 kV Jalpura-Khurja Transmission Project

Tata Power has commissioned a 162 CKM transmission corridor and 1,000 MVA substation, strengthening electricity connectivity across NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh.

Tata Power has commissioned the second element of its Jalpura-Khurja Transmission Project in Uttar Pradesh, adding critical high-voltage infrastructure for electricity demand centres across the National Capital Region (NCR) and Western Uttar Pradesh.

The project has been executed through TP Jalpura Khurja Power Transmission Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power.

After the company’s press release on 03 September 2026, the Tata Power share price was up 1.21%, and at 11:54 am the shares were trading at ₹368.40 apiece.

The 162 CKM corridor consists of two circuits of approximately 81 km each, creating a high-voltage connection between Khurja and Jalpura.

Khurja serves as an important power node in Western Uttar Pradesh. The new link is expected to facilitate power transmission towards NCR and Noida. The Jalpura substation will transfer electricity from the 400 kV grid to the 220 kV network, supporting rising regional requirements while improving the transmission system's reliability and efficiency.

With the commissioning, Tata Power's transmission portfolio stands at 7,900 circuit kilometres of lines operational and under execution across India.

The project also fits into Tata Power's wider infrastructure strategy:

  • More transmission capacity for growing electricity demand

  • Stronger connectivity between Western Uttar Pradesh and NCR

  • Higher grid resilience through additional high-voltage infrastructure

  • Support for a more future-ready electricity network

The company said the project strengthens infrastructure needed for the next phase of growth in NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh. It also highlighted its broader role in developing large-scale transmission assets as India's electricity grid expands.
