Tata Motors Subsidiary Buys 26% In Mateshwari E-Smart Mobility For ₹2.6 Lakh

Tata Motors, through its subsidiary, acquired 26% of Mateshwari E-Smart Mobility for ₹2.6 lakh, linking the deal to electric bus operations in Telangana.
Tata Motors, through its wholly owned subsidiary TML Smart City Mobility Solutions, has acquired a 26% stake in Mateshwari E-Smart Mobility (Hyderabad) for ₹2.6 lakh. The transaction was completed on 28 September, with the subsidiary buying 26,000 equity shares at ₹10 each.
The acquisition makes Mateshwari E-Smart Mobility an associate of Tata Motors and is linked to the company's electric bus operations in Telangana.
Tata Motors shares were trading at ₹431.15, down 0.42%, at 12:59 pm IST on 29 September.
Why Has Tata Motors Acquired The Stake?
The investment is tied to an electric bus tender awarded by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation. TML Smart City Mobility Solutions and Mateshwari Urban Transport Solutions, the holding company of Mateshwari E-Smart Mobility, have jointly received the tender for the operation and maintenance of electric buses.
Tata Motors said TML Smart City Mobility Solutions is also participating in tenders issued by municipal corporations for operating and maintaining electric buses. The company said the acquisition falls within its business objectives.
The transaction was completed through cash consideration paid for the transfer of equity shares from an existing shareholder of Mateshwari E-Smart Mobility. No government or regulatory approvals were required.
About Mateshwari E-Smart Mobility
Mateshwari E-Smart Mobility was incorporated on 11 August 2026, and was set up to carry out e-mobility business. It has an authorised and paid-up capital of ₹10 lakh.

Tata Motors said the acquisition did not constitute a related-party transaction at the time of the deal. Following the investment, however, Mateshwari E-Smart Mobility will become an associate of Tata Motors and, consequently, a related party.
