Sun Pharma Enters Global Lerodalcibep Deal
Sun Pharma enters a global licensing deal with LIB Therapeutics for lerodalcibep.

Sun Pharma has secured global rights to lerodalcibep outside the US and China, targeting a $3.7 billion PCSK9 market. Read more about the deal.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. has entered into an exclusive licensing, commercialisation and manufacturing agreement with LIB Therapeutics for lerodalcibep, a PCSK9 inhibitor used to lower LDL cholesterol.

The deal gives Sun Pharma rights to commercialise and manufacture the drug worldwide, excluding the US and China.

Shares of Sun Pharma ended the previous session on Friday, 0.3% higher at ₹1,855.9 apiece. On Monday, at 10:53 AM, Sun Pharmaceuticals’ share price was down 0.43% at ₹1,844.30.

Under the agreement, Sun Pharma will commercialise and manufacture lerodalcibep in the licensed markets. LIB Therapeutics will receive an upfront payment, future milestone payments and royalties linked to net sales in those territories. The companies have not disclosed the financial terms of the deal. Sun Pharma will also be responsible for seeking regulatory approvals in markets where the medicine has not yet been approved.

Lerodalcibep is marketed in the European Union (EU) as Lyrokaul, where it received approval on 21 September 2026. It is administered as a monthly injection, with each dose containing 300 mg in 1.2 mL.

Once removed from refrigeration, it can be stored at temperatures of up to 25°C for six months in the EU. The drug lowers LDL-C levels.

The agreement gives Sun Pharma access to a large and growing cardiovascular medicines market. Europe alone accounted for $2.9 billion in the PCSK9 inhibitor market in MAT Q2 2026, according to IQVIA. The global PCSK9 market is expected to approach $7 billion in 2026.

Sun Pharma said the partnership could help address the gap between LDL-C targets and actual cholesterol control among high-risk patients. The company pointed to the DA VINCI observational study, in which only 33% of patients assessed on stable oral lipid-lowering therapy achieved their risk-based LDL-C goals.

Sun Pharma Managing Director Kirti W Ganorkar said the once-monthly dosing, small-volume injection and six-month ambient storage could make treatment more convenient for patients.

For Sun Pharma, the agreement adds another cardiovascular treatment to its global Innovative Medicines portfolio, while giving LIB a partner with an established international commercial presence.
