Prism Johnson Shares Rallied After Securing 10-Year Coal Contracts

Prism Johnson has secured 10-year coal supply contracts from Coal India subsidiaries Eastern Coalfields and South Eastern Coalfields. The contracts are valued at approximately ₹70.49 crore per year and will take the company's total coal linkage to 2,79,400 tonnes per annum.
Prism Johnson Ltd. was declared the successful bidder for coal linkages totalling 1.28 lakh tonnes per annum in a recently concluded auction conducted by MSTC Ltd. for the cement industry. The contracts were awarded by Coal India's subsidiaries, Eastern Coalfields and South Eastern Coalfields.
The annual contract value is approximately ₹70.49 crore. The supply agreements will run for 10 years from the date of execution of the respective fuel supply agreements.
The Letters of Intent for the contracts were issued on 17 August 2026, and the agreements are to be executed within 90 days.
Following the announcement, Prism Johnson shares rose sharply during the session. The stock climbed as much as 11% to hit a day’s high of ₹116 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
Coal Linkage Rises To 2.79 Lakh Tonnes Per Annum
The new contracts will increase Prism Johnson's total coal linkage to 2,79,400 tonnes per annum. This will cover approximately half of the annual fuel requirement of its cement division.
Of the new allocation, Eastern Coalfields will supply 24,000 metric tonnes per annum, while South Eastern Coalfields will supply 1,04,000 metric tonnes per annum. The additional linkage supplements Prism Johnson's existing allocation of 1,51,400 tonnes per annum.
Existing Coal Linkage Faces Partial Expiry In 2027
The latest contracts also add to Prism Johnson's coal supply arrangements ahead of the expiry of part of its existing linkage. Around 1,11,400 tonnes per annum of the existing 1,51,400-tonne linkage is scheduled to expire in February 2027.
The new 10-year agreements therefore add fresh contracted supply to the company's coal procurement arrangement.
Prism Johnson Share Performance
After the session on 19 August 2026, Prism Johnson shares closed at ₹110.27, up 5.03%.
Over the past month, the stock has gained 0.51%. It is up nearly 1.88% over the last year. Over three years, Prism Johnson shares have risen 40.93%.
