NSE Shares To Trade On MSEI From Tomorrow, September 24, Ahead Of BSE Debut
NSE shares to trade on MSEI from September 24, ahead of their BSE debut after the ₹22,561.57 crore IPO.

NSE shares will begin trading on MSEI from September 24 ahead of the BSE debut. The ₹22,561.57 crore IPO was subscribed 5.71 times overall, with the QIB portion receiving 12.68 times subscription and the retail portion 1.39 times.

Shares of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be available for trading on the Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India (MSEI) from September 24, a day that also marks the exchange operator's debut on the BSE.

In a circular dated September 23, MSEI informed its trading members that NSE equity shares would be admitted for trading on its Capital Market Segment under the “Permitted to Trade” category with effect from September 24, 2026.

The move comes after NSE's ₹22,561.57 crore IPO received strong demand during its three-day subscription period. The issue, which was open from September 17 to September 21, was subscribed 5.71 times overall, with bids received for 50.60 crore shares against 8.86 crore shares on offer.

The MSEI admission provides another recognised exchange for trading NSE shares once they become publicly listed. NSE's own platform cannot be used to trade in its own listed shares, making trading on other exchanges relevant from the first day of its public-market debut.

Under the MSEI circular, NSE shares will be available in the exchange's Capital Market Segment under the “Permitted to Trade” category from September 24. The shares are also scheduled to begin trading on the BSE on the same day.

The development follows the completion of NSE's IPO, which was entirely an offer for sale. The issue carried a price band of ₹1,700-₹1,785 per share and was priced at the upper end of the band at ₹1,785.

Demand was strongest among institutional investors. The qualified institutional buyer (QIB) portion was subscribed 12.68 times, while the non-institutional investor (NII) category was subscribed 6.55 times. The retail portion received 1.39 times subscription.

NSE's shares are scheduled to make their BSE debut on Thursday, September 24, following the conclusion of the IPO process. The public issue raised ₹22,561.57 crore through the offer for sale of existing shares, with no fresh issue of equity by NSE.

The 5.71-times overall subscription translated into bids for 50.60 crore shares, significantly above the 8.86 crore shares offered in the issue. The strong institutional participation has kept the upcoming debut in focus ahead of the first trading session.

The addition of MSEI as a trading venue means NSE shares will be available for trading on both BSE and MSEI from September 24. The first session will therefore shift investor focus from IPO subscription and allotment to actual trading in NSE shares.
