NSE Shares Extend Rally For Fourth Day, Hit Post-Listing High As Market Cap Crosses $50 Billion
NSE shares touched a post-listing high, taking its market cap above $50 billion.

NSE shares touched a post-listing high on Friday, taking market capitalisation above $50 billion even as Q2 FY27 transaction activity fell 16% QoQ and net profit declined 17% sequentially to ₹2,578 crore.

Shares of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) climbed to a post-listing high of ₹1,953.95 on Friday, 6 November 2026, taking its market capitalisation past $50 billion during the session.

The rally puts NSE shares on course for a fourth straight session of gains, despite a sequential decline in transaction activity and profitability in Q2 FY27. Lower trading volumes across segments weighed on operating performance.

The NSE share price was trading at ₹1,912.80, up ₹18.45 or 0.97%, as of 12:49 pm IST.

NSE saw a 16% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) fall in transaction activity during Q2 FY27. The fall was seen across trading segments. Equity cash average daily trading volume (ADTV) dropped 13% QoQ and futures volumes declined 19%. Options notional turnover was down 16%. The CAS (Closing Auction Session) framework also weighed on trading activity. Options premium turnover recorded the sharpest fall, down 25%.

Initial public offering (IPO)-related income offered some relief as listing activity picked up. But it could not fully make up for the fall in transaction revenue. Lower trading volumes continued to weigh on NSE’s operating performance. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) declined 13% QoQ, while the EBITDA margin contracted by 215 basis points due to operating deleverage.

Income from treasury investments fell 30% to ₹479 crore from ₹682 crore in the June quarter. Net profit consequently dropped 17% sequentially to ₹2,578 crore.

Commodity derivatives were an exception. Average daily turnover in commodity futures rose 38% QoQ to ₹138 crore, while options premium turnover surged 116% to ₹297 crore, driven by stronger activity in crude oil contracts.

The next few months will show whether trading volumes recover after the changes to the CAS framework. SEBI revised the framework last month.

The experts anticipate trading volumes to improve from Q3 FY27. New products are still at an early stage, while regulatory changes could provide further support.
