Motherson Sumi Wiring Q1 2026-27 Results: India's wiring harness company Motherson Sumi Wiring Ltd. reported a mixed set of earnings for the June quarter (Q1 FY) during market hours on Tuesday 4th of August, with revenue rising at a healthy pace but higher input and employee costs weighing on operating margins.

The company reported a net profit of ₹145.32 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, up 1.5% from ₹143.10 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Revenue from operations increased 36.6% year-on-year to ₹3,407.26 crore from ₹2,494.03 crore, supported by the ramp-up of new customer programmes and expansion of Greenfield projects.

EBITDA rose 5.7% to ₹258.25 crore from ₹244.25 crore in the year-ago period. However, the EBITDA margin narrowed to 7.6% from 9.8% as profitability came under pressure.

The company attributed the margin contraction to a sharp rise in raw material costs. Average copper prices were 53% higher year-on-year and 7% above the previous quarter, while minimum wage revisions across multiple states also impacted profitability.

Motherson Sumi Wiring said the Indian passenger vehicle industry grew 17% during the quarter, providing a supportive demand environment for its business.

Investors reacted negatively to the margin pressure despite the strong topline growth. Motherson Sumi Wiring shares fell over 4% following the results announcement and were trading at ₹39.68 apiece around 12 pm.

The stock has declined around 19% so far this year
