Molbio Diagnostics Raises ₹281 Crore From Anchor Investors Ahead Of IPO

Molbio Diagnostics raised ₹281 crore from anchor investors ahead of its IPO. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) invested ₹20 crore and HDFC Mutual Fund committed ₹35 crore.
Molbio Diagnostics has attracted strong institutional interest ahead of its stock market debut, with the point-of-care diagnostics company raising ₹281 crore from anchor investors. The fundraising includes a ₹20-crore investment from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private-sector arm of the World Bank Group.
The Goa-based company is set to open its initial public offering (IPO) for subscription on 10 August. The issue will remain open until 12 August.
IFC Returns To Mainboard IPO Market
The Molbio investment marks IFC's return to India's mainboard IPO market after a gap of five years.
The World Bank Group entity last participated as an anchor investor in an Indian mainboard IPO in June 2021. At the time, it invested ₹10 crore in dairy company Dodla Dairy. IFC remained invested in the company until 2024, according to news reports.
Its latest investment gives Molbio another notable institutional backer ahead of the listing. The diagnostics company is backed by investors including Temasek and Motilal Oswal Private Equity and is regarded as Goa's first unicorn.
HDFC Mutual Fund Leads Anchor Book
HDFC Mutual Fund was the biggest investor in the anchor portion, committing ₹35 crore through four schemes.
The allocation was spread across HDFC Pharma and Healthcare Fund, HDFC Value Fund, HDFC Innovation Fund and HDFC MNC Fund.
The anchor allocation came alongside a separate secondary transaction involving a number of institutional and alternative investment investors.
Molbio Sees Institutional Interest In Secondary Sale
Molbio also completed a secondary share sale at ₹807 per share, the upper end of its IPO price band.
According to a public announcement dated 7 August, investors bought shares worth around ₹160 crore through secondary transactions. Participants included 360 One Equity Opportunity Fund, 3P India Equity Fund 1, Neo Prime Fund, Neo Secondaries Fund, Neo Markets Services, WhiteOak Capital India Opportunities Fund and Motilal Oswal Value Migration Fund Series I.
Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company and Susquehanna Asia Technology Pty Ltd were also part of the transaction.
Among the investors, 360 ONE Asset invested ₹30 crore. 3P Investment Managers, Neo Alternative Asset Managers, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance and Susquehanna International Group invested ₹25 crore each. WhiteOak Capital Asset Management invested ₹20 crore, while Motilal Oswal Asset Management put in ₹10 crore.
The participation from these institutions adds to the interest around Molbio ahead of its proposed listing.
Molbio Diagnostics IPO Opens On 10 August
Molbio Diagnostics IPO opens on 10 August 2026, with bidding closing on 12 August.
The company plans to deploy ₹106 crore from the fresh issue towards capital expenditure for an R&D facility, a Centre of Excellence and related office infrastructure.
Another ₹72 crore has been earmarked for the purchase of plant, machinery and equipment for its Goa Unit I, Goa Unit II and Visakhapatnam facility.
The balance of the fresh issue proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.
