Manappuram Finance Q1 Results: Consolidated profit after tax skyrocketed by 341% to ₹585 crore. Assets under management rose 57% to ₹69,635 crore.

Manappuram Finance reported a record 341.4% rise in profit after tax (PAT) in the June quarter of the current financial year to reach ₹585 crore. At the same time, its assets under management (AUM) went up 57.2% to ₹69,635 crore.

Consolidated net interest income (NII) rose 25% year-on-year to ₹1,759 crore, while pre-provisioning profit increased 52.4% to ₹1,007 crore. Earnings per share (EPS) improved to ₹24.4 from ₹6.3 in the year-ago quarter.

The company's profitability ratios also strengthened during the quarter. Return on average assets (ROAA) improved to 3.54% from 1.10% a year earlier, while return on equity (ROE) rose to 14.3% from 4.3%.

Loan loss provisions fell sharply to ₹225 crore, down nearly 60% from the corresponding quarter last year, supporting overall profitability. The consolidated cost of borrowing also eased to 8.9% from 9.2% a year ago.

Total assets stood at ₹77,990 crore, up 52.2% year-on-year, while net worth increased 32.4% to ₹16,552 crore. Borrowings rose to ₹60,171 crore in line with its business expansion. The customer base grew 25.5% to 38.4 lakh.

The gold loan business continued to drive growth during the quarter. Consolidated gold loan AUM surged 97.9% year-on-year to ₹57,006 crore, while gold holdings increased to 67 tonnes. The company operated through 4,054 gold loan branches serving around 29 lakh customers.

Asirvad Microfinance returned to profitability with a PAT of ₹21 crore compared with a loss in the year-ago quarter. Its AUM increased 7.2% to ₹7,188 crore, while asset quality remained stable with gross non-performing assets (GNPA) at 4.8%. The company also continued to consolidate branches while expanding its gold loan network.

Housing finance subsidiary Mahofin maintained an AUM of ₹1,847 crore and introduced gold loans during the quarter. The MSME and allied business reported an AUM of ₹3,303 crore, while the company continued to reassess its Vehicle and Equipment Finance portfolio after pausing fresh disbursements in this segment.

Manappuram Finance’s shares are likely to be in focus after these results. At the close of 11 August, its stock price was ₹360.0 on the National Stock Exchange, down by 2.52%.
