KPIT Technologies Shares Fall 8% As Europe Weakness, Margin Pressure Overshadow Q1 Results

KPIT Technologies shares declined sharply after investors shifted focus from better-than-expected US dollar revenue to continued weakness in Europe and margin pressure. The company reported a 32% year-on-year drop in Q1 FY27 net profit, while management cautioned that softness in its largest market could persist into the second quarter. It, however, expects business momentum to improve in the second half of FY27.
Shares of KPIT Technologies fell as much as 8% on Thursday, July 30, as investors reassessed the company's June quarter earnings, with concerns over Europe, margin pressure and near-term growth outweighing the initial relief over better-than-expected dollar revenue.
The stock touched an intraday low of ₹594.80 on the BSE and was trading around 7% lower during afternoon trade, reversing the gains made in the previous session after the company announced its Q1 FY27 results.
The initial market reaction had been positive after KPIT reported a 0.6% year-on-year decline in US dollar revenue, better than the roughly 1% decline management had indicated earlier this month. By Thursday, however, the market's attention had shifted to the company's margin profile and its outlook for Europe.
KPIT Technologies Q1 Results FY27: Key Highlights
KPIT Technologies reported a 32% year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit to ₹117 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, compared with ₹173 crore a year earlier.
Total income increased 8% to ₹1,683 crore, while total expenses rose 15% to ₹1,509 crore.
Revenue in constant currency terms grew 0.1% year-on-year but declined 3.6% sequentially.
The Pune-headquartered tech firm's EBITDA declined 11% to ₹288 crore from ₹323 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. EBITDA margin contracted to 17.2% from 21%, while net profit margin narrowed to 7% from 11.2% a year earlier.
The board also declared a final dividend of ₹5.25 per share for FY26, with August 12, 2026, fixed as the record date.
Why Did KPIT Technologies Shares Fall?
During the earnings call, management said Europe, which contributes more than half of the company's revenue, remained the key area of concern. The region saw an estimated 4% revenue impact during the June quarter, and management indicated that the weakness could persist into the second quarter as well.
The company said European automotive manufacturers continue to face pressure from Chinese competition and tariffs, while the timing of converting deal wins into revenue remains uncertain.
Management also said a recovery in margins by the fourth quarter would depend largely on revenue growth, as cost optimisation initiatives in Europe are taking longer than expected. The continued pressure on margins reinforced investors' concerns despite the better-than-expected dollar revenue performance.
Management Outlook
Management said the US commercial vehicle business delivered healthy growth during the quarter and is expected to maintain momentum. The company also added seven off-highway OEM customers and four truck and bus customers during the period.
It expects the second half of FY27 to be stronger than the first, supported by a recovery in the commercial vehicle segment.
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Kishor Patil said the June quarter performance was slightly ahead of the outlook shared at the end of the previous quarter. He added that while some of the company's largest clients continue to face near-term challenges, KPIT's diversified presence across clients, geographies and mobility segments, along with investments in AI-defined mobility, vehicle engineering, digital cockpit and autonomous technologies, continues to support its long-term growth strategy.
KPIT Technologies Share Price Performance
KPIT Technologies shares have declined about 53% over the past year and are down more than 50% so far in calendar year 2026. The stock has also fallen 21.9% over the past three months and 11.7% in the last one month, reflecting continued investor caution over the company's near-term growth outlook.
At the time of writing, KPIT Technologies shares were trading at ₹589.45, down ₹49.30, or 7.72%, on the day.
