HDFC Bank Q2 FY27 Results On 17 October: What To Expect From Net Interest Income, Deposit Growth And Bad Loans

HDFC Bank Q2 FY27 results are due on 17 October, with NII growth estimated at around 8%, mixed profit expectations, and margins under pressure. Read more for key estimates.
HDFC Bank is expected to post an annual rise of about 8% in net interest income (NII) for the September quarter, though the increase in net profit may be smaller.
Investors will be watching the bank’s net interest margins (NIMs), deposit growth, loan demand and asset quality ahead of the HDFC Bank Q2 FY27 results, scheduled for Saturday, 17 October 2026.
The bank’s earnings will come at a time when margins remain under pressure despite steady credit growth. Deposit growth will be worth watching, especially if the bank has to offer higher rates to bring in more funds.
The HDFC Bank Q2FY27 results should show how well it has balanced deposit mobilisation with the cost of funding its loans.
How Much Growth Is Expected In Q2 FY27?
For the September quarter, HDFC Bank’s net interest income is expected to come in at ₹33,978.8 crore to ₹34,370 crore, compared with the year-ago period’s figures, reflecting growth of 7.7% to 8.9%. The quarter-on-quarter increase is expected to be lower, ranging from 1.3% to 2.5%.
Margins, however, could see another decline. Estimates point to a fall of 8 to 9 basis points in NIMs compared with the June quarter. The margin is expected to settle at around 3.31%, against 3.40% in the previous quarter.
The bank’s loan book is expected to grow at a healthy pace, with advances rising by around 15% year-on-year. Business banking, corporate lending and agricultural loans are likely to support this growth, while mortgage lending could lag behind.
HDFC Bank’s deposits are projected to grow 19.4% from a year ago and 5.5% over the June quarter. The bank will need to keep attracting funds to support its lending business, but the cost of those deposits could weigh on earnings if it rises too quickly.
Where Could Profit And Bad Loans Head Next?
The profit outlook remains mixed. Current estimates put year-on-year profit after tax (PAT) growth anywhere between 1.4% and 8.3%. Operating profit is also expected to see limited growth, leaving the final numbers dependent on how income, expenses and provisions shape up during the quarter.
On the asset quality front, gross non-performing assets (GNPA) are expected to fall to 1.1% from 1.2% in the June quarter. Net NPAs are pegged at 0.4%, while credit costs could stay within the 45–50 basis point range.
Loan slippages may offer another clue about repayment trends. They are expected to come down to ₹7,200 crore in the September quarter, against ₹8,000 crore in the previous three months.
The results will show whether the bank has managed to keep bad loans in check while continuing to grow its loan book. Its comments on deposit rates, lending demand and margins should also give investors a better sense of what to expect in the coming quarters.
