Bajaj Finance, Petronet LNG Gain; KPI Green Energy Falls As Key Corporate Updates Drive Stocks
Bajaj Finance and Petronet LNG gain on corporate updates, while KPI Green Energy falls after its group CEO resigns.

Indian equities traded higher, led by private banking stocks. Bajaj Finance gained 4.6% after approving a ₹11,700 crore QIP and ₹5,800 crore preferential warrant issue. Petronet LNG and Poonawalla Fincorp also advanced.

Indian equities traded higher on Monday, with gains concentrated across IT, banking, oil and gas, consumer durables and energy stocks. The Nifty IT index rose 1.5% at 09:41 am, while the Nifty Private Bank index added 0.98% at 09:55 am.

The broader market also remained firm. The Nifty Midcap index gained 1%, while the Nifty Smallcap index advanced 0.87% at 9:55 am. Most sectoral indices were in positive territory, with pharma the only exception.

Corporate developments drove notable moves in several individual stocks. Bajaj Finance shares jumped 4.6% after the company announced a combined fundraising plan of up to ₹17,500 crore. At 10:44 am the stock was trading at ₹983.60, up 3.72%.

The board approved:

  • Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) of up to ₹11,700 crore.

  • Preferential issue of warrants worth ₹5,800 crore to promoter Bajaj Finserv.

  • The warrants will be convertible into an equivalent number of equity shares.

Petronet LNG gained 2.11% after its board approved the appointment of Sanjay Kumar as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective 13 May 2027. Kumar is currently Director (Marketing) at GAIL (India).

Poonawalla Fincorp shares rose 2.98% at 10:45 am on 5 October 2026 after the company disclosed an AUM of approximately ₹73,950 crore as of 30 September 2026 and liquidity of around ₹6,400 crore in the second quarter.

KPI Green Energy moved in the opposite direction, falling 3.94% at 10:54 am after Group CEO Alok Das resigned, with his resignation taking effect from 1 October.
