Adani Group Reportedly Seeks $1.5 Billion Offshore Loan To Fund Data Centre Expansion As It Steps Up $100 Billion Digital Infrastructure Investment Plan

Adani Group is stepping up its data centre funding efforts with a proposed $1.5 billion loan, supporting its broader plans to invest $100 billion by 2035.
Adani Group is seeking to raise around $1.5 billion through an offshore loan to fund its data centre expansion, as the conglomerate steps up investments in digital infrastructure.
AdaniConneX Pvt., its joint venture with data centre operator EdgeConneX, is discussing the proposed financing with several international lenders, according to people familiar with the matter.
The discussions include DBS Group Holdings, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG). The Adani Group is also holding discussions with Natixis, ING Bank and Societe Generale for the financing.
Lenders and the company are yet to finalise the terms. According to the people, discussions on pricing are underway. The proposed loan could carry a tenure of five to seven years.
Adani Group's $100 Billion Investment Plan
The proposed borrowing comes as the Adani Group prepares to invest around $100 billion in data centres and other digital infrastructure by 2035.
The investment plan builds on the group's existing energy business and its expansion into infrastructure needed to support artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing services.
The latest fundraising effort follows an $800 million loan secured by AdaniConneX a few months ago. That facility had a tenure of 18 months. The new financing, if finalised, would give the joint venture access to longer-term funding for its expansion plans.
India's Data Centre Market Attracts Major Investments
Adani's expansion comes amid growing competition among India's largest business groups to build data centre capacity. Reliance Industries has also announced plans to invest nearly $110 billion over seven years in AI-related infrastructure.
The investments come as demand for computing capacity rises with the expansion of AI applications and cloud services. India's data centre capacity stood at around 1.57 gigawatts in August 2026.
The government expects it to increase to nearly 8 gigawatts by 2030. The country could attract approximately $200 billion in investments into the data centre sector over the next seven to eight years, according to reports.
The proposed AdaniConneX loan is part of the group's broader push into the sector, where large infrastructure investments and access to long-term financing are becoming important as operators expand capacity.
