MeitY has selected TCS, NEC India and four other firms as approved AI partners for a two-year period. The empanelment created a pre-approved vendor pool to support AI projects across ministries and government agencies.

The Centre has shortlisted six technology companies to support artificial intelligence (AI) projects across ministries, public sector undertakings and government agencies as it looks to accelerate AI adoption in public administration.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has empanelled TCS, NEC India, Kyndryl Solutions, Innefu Labs, CoRover.ai and Cactus Communications as approved technology partners for a period of two years. The selection follows a competitive process that attracted more than 80 bidders.

According to the government notification, the empanelled companies will provide specialised AI services, technical expertise and skilled manpower for projects undertaken by ministries and government bodies.

The firms are expected to support departments in areas such as AI model development, implementation, advisory services, capacity building and project execution, depending on project requirements.

The selection process was managed by the National e-Governance Division. It had invited applications from companies interested in supporting AI projects across government departments.

The empanelment creates a list of pre-approved technology vendors that government departments can draw from for AI projects. This removes the need to run a fresh vendor selection process each time a ministry wants to deploy an AI solution.

Officials said the arrangement is expected to shorten project timelines and make specialised AI support more readily available to ministries and public sector organisations.

The move marks another step in the government's efforts to expand the use of AI across public administration and build institutional capabilities in emerging technologies.

While many companies participated in the bidding process, several large consulting and technology firms did not make the final list. These include Deloitte, EY, PwC and analytics-focused company Fractal Analytics, according to the government notification.
