SEBI Directs Stock Brokers To Display Investor Awareness Messages

SEBI has directed stock brokers to display investor awareness messages on their websites and trading apps from October and November 2026 as part of its investor protection initiative.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has directed stock brokers to prominently display investor awareness messages on their websites and trading applications.
The move is part of Project Jagrook, SEBI’s nationwide investor awareness initiative. It also comes ahead of World Investor Week 2026, with the regulator seeking to strengthen investor education and risk communication across digital trading platforms.
SEBI issued the directions through a circular dated 1 October 2026. The instructions apply to recognised stock exchanges, depositories and stock brokers.
New Display Requirements For Broker Websites
From 5 October to 31 October 2026, stock brokers will have to display SEBI’s specified investor awareness messages along with the existing risk disclosures on their websites.
From 1 November 2026, the investor awareness messages must be displayed on the landing page of broker websites. The messages will be provided by SEBI and are intended to promote investor safety and awareness.
The latest requirements build on SEBI’s earlier framework for risk disclosures. The regulator had made such disclosures mandatory for stock brokers in May 2023, particularly to highlight risks associated with market trading and high-risk products.
Trading Apps To Display Messages From November
The requirements for trading applications will also be introduced in phases. Between 5 October and 31 October 2026, brokers may voluntarily display SEBI’s investor awareness messages on their trading apps. If a broker chooses to display the messages on a particular day during this period, displaying the existing risk disclosures will be optional on that day.
From 1 November 2026, the requirement will become mandatory.
SEBI has also allowed the messages to be updated from time to time. Stock exchanges and depositories have been instructed to communicate the directions to their members and participants and make the necessary regulatory changes for implementation.
The initiative places investor education messages directly on the digital platforms increasingly used by retail investors to access financial markets.
