Markets may open lower amid Middle East tensions; GIFT Nifty down 125 points. Asian indices mixed. Key stocks: HDFC Life, HCL Tech, Tata Elxsi, SBI, Swiggy; major Q4 earnings due.
The Indian benchmark equity indices are expected to open in the red amid uncertainty over the prolonged escalation in the Middle East. According to reports, the West Asia conflict may be prolonged as US President Donald Trump has extended the ceasefire in Iran, leading to volatility in the Asian markets.
The GIFT Nifty was trading at 24,459 points, down by 125 points. Similarly, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 0.69%, while South Korea’s Kospi dropped 0.61%. On the other hand, Japan’s Nikkei edged up 0.19%, while mainland China’s CSI 300 advanced 0.16%.
Key Stocks To Watch
Here are some of the stocks that will be in focus on 22 April 2026:
HDFC Life Insurance Company: The company’s board has approved the re-appointment of Vibha Padalkar as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer.
HCL Technologies: The company has recorded robust year-on-year revenue growth of 12.3% and net profit growth of 4.2% in its net profit.
Tata Elxsi: The company reported a net profit of ₹220.35 crore in Q4 FY26, marking a growth of 27% on a year-on-year basis.
Tata Investment: The net profit of the company increased by 69% YoY and its revenue from operations expanded by 143% YoY.
SBI: The public sector bank promoted eight of its employees to deputy managing director.
Swiggy: The Karnataka High Court has prolonged interim relief for Swiggy, maintaining the stay on proceedings before the Competition Commission of India in the ongoing antitrust investigation.
