Stock Market Update 21 July 2026: Sensex, Nifty 50 Trade Marginally Lower

Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading slightly lower after the market opening on Tuesday. Other indices, however, were trading in the mixed direction during early trading.
Both the Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading slightly lower after the market opening on Tuesday, 21 July 2026.
At around 9:24 AM, the Sensex was down by around 58 points (0.07%) to trade at 77,650.65. The Nifty 50 was also trading lower by around 8 points (0.03%) at 24,230.60.
On Monday, 20 July 2026, the indices closed in the red even after recovering heavy losses during the morning and afternoon trade. At market close, the Sensex stood at 77,708.52, down 0.57%. The Nifty 50 stood at 24,238.50, down 0.39%.
How Other Indices Are Performing?
Apart from the Sensex and the Nifty 50, other indices were trading in mixed directions during early trading on Tuesday.
At around 9:26 AM, Bank Nifty was up by 124 points (0.21%) to trade at 58,069.10. The Nifty Financial Services index was, however, down by around 0.02% to trade at 26,570.10.
Among the sectoral indices, Nifty Auto gained 0.10%, Nifty FMCG gained 0.12%, Nifty Metal gained 0.42%, Nifty IT gained 0.80% and Nifty PSU Bank gained 0.46%. Nifty Pharma (down 0.43%) was the only index in the red.
Top Gainers And Losers
At 9:15 AM, about 1,438 shares advanced, 883 shares declined, and 141 shares remained unchanged.
The top gainers on Nifty included UltraTech Cement, Shriram Finance, Tata Steel, Adani Enterprises and Tech Mahindra.
The top losers were HDFC Bank, Maruti Suzuki, Eternal, Sun Pharma and Dr Reddys Labs.
What About The Global Markets?
Global markets gave mixed cues amid escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
