Global markets gave mixed cues on Thursday amid rising oil prices and escalating Middle East tensions:

  • Japan’s Topix rose 0.5%.

  • Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.6%.

  • Oil Prices Slip: Crude oil prices fell by more than $1 on Thursday after analysts lowered their 2026 global demand forecast. Uncertainty over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz also weighed on sentiment. Brent crude futures fell $1.29, or 1.5%, to $87.69 a barrel. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude dropped $1.30, or 1.6%, to $81.97 a barrel.

  • Rupee Opens Flat: The Indian National Rupee (INR) opened marginally lower at 95.36 per US dollar on Thursday. The previous close was at 95.33.

  • Sharp Sell-off In Tata Stocks: The resignation of the Tata Sons chairman has triggered a sharp sell-off in Tata Group stocks.

  • Positive Q1 Results: Most companies have declared their Q1 FY27 results. Increasing profits and revenues have boosted investor sentiments.

Markets remain volatile due to a mix of domestic and global factors. The situation in the Middle East, crude oil prices and other key developments could continue to influence market moves.
