Global markets gave mixed cues on Monday amid persistent Middle East tensions and elevated global bond yields.

  • Nikkei 225 futures (OSE) fell 0.2%.

  • Japan’s Topix rose 0.3%.

  • Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.6%.

  • Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 2%.

  • The Shanghai Composite fell 0.8%.

  • Euro Stoxx 50 futures were unchanged.

  • Oil Prices Fell: Oil prices declined by over $1 per barrel on Monday as investors booked profits ahead of expected US announcements and additional sanctions against Iran.

  • Middle East Tensions: With no clarity over the US-Iran war, uncertainty in the Middle East continues to check investor sentiments.

  • Increased Sugar Imports: The prospect of increased sugar imports can impact the value of the rupee and bond yields in the country. These changes can subsequently impact the equity markets.

  • Rupee Opens Higher: The Indian National Rupee (INR) opened lower at 95.64 per US dollar on Monday. The previous close was at 95.70.

The indices are under pressure as uncertainty in the Middle East and rising global bond yields weigh on investor sentiment. Investors and traders should wait for further clarity and crucial breakdowns or breakups to take big positions.
