Stock Market Update 17 September 2026: Sensex, Nifty 50 Trade Marginally Higher
Sensex and Nifty 50 opened and traded marginally higher on Thursday morning.

Indian stock market indices opened and traded marginally higher on Thursday morning. While the Sensex gained approximately 29 points, the Nifty 50 was trading above 23,200. 

The Indian stock market indices were trading marginally higher after market opening on Thursday, 17 September 2026.

At around 9:15 AM:

  • The Sensex was up by 29.31 points (0.04%) to trade at 74,365.76.

  • The Nifty 50 was up by 18.45 points (0.08%) to trade at 23,236.05.

On Wednesday, 16 September 2026, the benchmark indices ended on a positive note as traders monitored developments surrounding the Fed’s policy decision. At the closing bell, the Sensex stood at 74,336.45, up 0.44%. The Nifty 50 stood at 23,217.60, up 0.43%.
