Indian equities are set to begin Wednesday's trade after benchmark indices closed lower in a volatile session on Tuesday. After the closing bell, Wall Street scaled fresh highs as lower crude prices and upbeat corporate outlooks lifted sentiment.
GIFT Nifty was trading above Tuesday's close before the opening bell.
Market Recap
The BSE Sensex settled 210 points lower at 78,429, while the Nifty 50 ended 159 points down at 24,615. Both indices recovered sharply before the closing bell, ending well above their intraday lows.

Selling remained widespread, with 35 of the 50 Nifty stocks closing lower.
Among the major drags were Grasim Industries, HDFC Life, Bajaj Auto, Max Healthcare and Reliance Industries. FMCG stocks also stayed under pressure after Nestle India's commentary weighed on peers such as Hindustan Unilever and Tata Consumer Products.
Apollo Hospitals and Hindalco were among the top gainers during the session. Buying also picked up in Ather Energy, KEI Industries, Godfrey Phillips, Exide Industries and Nippon Life India Asset Management after strong quarterly earnings and positive business outlooks.
