Pre-Market, 30 October 2026: Sensex And Nifty 50 Look To Sustain The Momentum; Cautious Optimism Likely To Prevail

Markets enter today’s session with cautious optimism after Thursday’s rally. Investors will watch for sustained buying across sectors. However, profit booking could limit further gains. Read more.
Markets regained ground on Thursday. Both Sensex and Nifty 50 gained over 1%. Buying in realty and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) stocks helped lift sentiment, while broader markets also ended the session in positive territory.
On Thursday, the BSE Sensex climbed 905.01 points, or 1.24%, to close at 74,151.04, while the Nifty 50 advanced 237.90 points, or 1.05%, to settle at 22,936.75.
Global Indices And GIFT Nifty
Global indices presented mixed results. While US indices closed the previous trading session in the red, European markets finished in the green (see table).
Index | Change (in %) |
|---|---|
S&P 500 | -0.30 |
Nasdaq | -1.42 |
FTSE | +0.26 |
DAX | +1.29 |
At 6:54 am, the GIFT Nifty was down 0.15%, hinting at a possible negative start for frontline indices.
Sectors Likely To Be On Investors’ Radar
Realty and FMCG stocks led the sectoral rally on Thursday, while auto shares ended slightly lower. Today, traders are likely to closely watch stocks in the following sectors:
-
Realty: The Nifty Realty index led the sectoral gains, rising 2.75%. Traders are expected to closely watch whether realty stocks can extend Thursday’s advance or see some profit booking after the sharp rise.
-
FMCG: The Nifty FMCG index climbed 2.34%. This made it one of the major gainers in yesterday’s trade. Further buying in FMCG shares could help maintain the positive mood.
-
Auto: The Nifty Auto index slipped 0.24%. In the process, it moved against the broader market trend. Traders may look for signs of a recovery in auto shares. Continued weakness in the sector could point to uneven buying across the market.
Cautious Optimism Likely To Guide Market Sentiment
The market outlook is cautiously positive after Thursday’s strong recovery. If buying continues across sectors, the benchmarks may find support. At the same time, profit booking could lead to a more range-bound session.
