Pre-Market, 2 November 2026: Sensex And Nifty 50 Likely To Trade With A Positive Bias; Previous Session’s Rally May Continue

Cautious optimism is likely to prevail in today’s trade as traders analyse global cues and sectoral trends. Read more.
Equity markets may look to extend their gains in the next trading session after the Sensex and Nifty 50 ended higher for the second straight session on Friday, 30 October 2026. Buying in information technology (IT) and pharma stocks supported the benchmarks.
On Friday, the BSE Sensex gained 308.49 points (0.42%) to close at 74,459.53. The Nifty 50 rose 116.35 points (0.51%) and finished at 23,053.10. The broader market, however, told a different story. The Nifty MidCap 100 fell 0.93%, while the Nifty SmallCap 100 declined 1.85%.
Global Indices And GIFT Nifty
US and European markets closed mostly in the negative in the previous trading session, with most of the major global indices in the red (see table):
Index | Change (in %) |
|---|---|
S&P 500 | -1.82 |
Nasdaq | -2.86 |
DAX | -0.86 |
At 6:39 am today, the GIFT Nifty was up 0.86%, hinting at a possible positive start for frontline indices.
Sectors Likely To Draw Attention
The IT sector could continue to attract attention in today’s session. The recent movement in global technology stocks and the unwinding of artificial intelligence (AI)-related trades have influenced investor sentiment towards IT stocks.
Pharma stocks may also be among the key areas of interest. The Nifty Pharma recorded a 1.55% gain in the last trading session. Further buying in pharma shares could help the market maintain its positive tone.
On the other hand, consumer durables stocks may remain under pressure. The Nifty Consumer Durables index had declined 1.78% in the previous session. Traders will watch whether the selling continues or the sector sees some recovery.
Cautious Positive Tone Likely To Prevail
A cautiously positive start cannot be ruled out in the next session, given the gains in the Sensex and Nifty 50 over the previous sessions. However, the market has yet to show strength across segments. The overall mood is likely to remain selective, with traders looking for fresh cues before taking bigger positions.
