Pre-Market 11 August 2026: Sensex Gains 43 Points; Nifty Below 24,600, GIFT Nifty In Focus

Indian markets ended largely flat on Monday, with Nifty below 24,600. GIFT Nifty indicated cautious trading, while global cues, Middle East developments and Q1 earnings remain in focus.
Dalal Street saw limited movement on Monday. The Sensex finished at 78,542, while the Nifty 50 closed at 24,584. The latest cues from global markets remain mixed, while GIFT Nifty was trading close to the previous Nifty close.
Indian Markets Recap
The benchmark indices finished slightly higher on Monday following the closing auction session.
The Nifty Bank declined 60 points to 57,687, whereas the Nifty Midcap 100 index outperformed with a gain of 392 points, ending at 63,856.
The closing auction led to a noticeable adjustment in the benchmark levels. The Nifty moved by 24 points, the Sensex by 63 points and the Nifty Bank by 81 points after the session.
Monday's session saw sharp moves in several stocks following Q1 results and corporate updates. Hitachi Energy, Paytm, Bharat Forge, PFC, REC and Info Edge were among the names that saw notable price action. BSE and CESC also moved following company-specific developments.
Global Markets
Wall Street opened almost flat on Monday as investors assessed developments around the Middle East and the possible reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
However, by the end of the trading day, the Dow Jones was at 53,975.98, down 60.95 points. The S&P 500 was down by 4.53 points to close at 7,753.11, while the Nasdaq Composite slipped 85.26 points to 26,605.36.
European markets traded mixed. FTSE 100 fell by 38.59 points to close at 10,862.50, while France's CAC 40 closed at 8,726.03, up by 11.10 points.
Asian markets had a stronger showing. Japan's Nikkei 225 climbed 2.08% to 66,970.22, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 1.05% to 25,937.49.
GIFT Nifty Update
On 11 August 2026 at 8:25 am, GIFT Nifty was trading at 24,611.50, down by 0.08%. The numbers suggest cautious trading in the Nifty 50 on Tuesday.
Nifty Setup Today
The Nifty ended below the 24,600 mark on Monday, keeping this level in focus for the next session.
According to the technical view provided, a convincing move above the upper end of the current range could take the index towards 24,800, followed by 25,000.
On the other hand, a break below the lower end of the range could bring 24,400 into focus as the immediate support. The next key level on the downside is 24,200.
Market Triggers To Watch
Developments around the Strait of Hormuz and the broader Middle East are likely to remain key drivers for global markets. The June-quarter earnings season is also in focus, with investors tracking fresh results, management commentary and stock-specific moves. Attention will also remain on whether stocks that saw sharp moves after Monday's announcements sustain those gains or losses.
