Pre-Market 10 August 2026: GIFT Nifty Signals Positive Start; Crude, Earnings In Focus
Sensex and Nifty in focus as GIFT Nifty rises, crude prices and Q1 earnings drive sentiment.

Indian equities may open higher as GIFT Nifty gains, while investors track crude oil prices, Q1 earnings, FII-DII flows, global markets and upcoming US inflation data for market direction.

Indian equities head into Monday's session after a weak close on Friday. The focus now shifts to crude oil prices, a packed Q1 earnings calendar, foreign fund flows and fresh US inflation data.

The Sensex declined nearly 456 points, or 0.58%, to finish at 78,499. The Nifty 50 fell 65 points, or 0.27%, ending at 24,571.

The Nifty Midcap 100 edged up 0.22%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 finished lower.

US stocks closed higher on Friday, helped by gains in technology shares. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended at 54,036.93, up 0.28%. The S&P 500 finished at 7,757.64, up 0.62%, while the Nasdaq rose by 1.30% to close at 26,690.62. The gains came after a weaker-than-expected US jobs report increased expectations of a rate cut at the Federal Reserve's September meeting.

European markets also closed higher on Friday. The FTSE 100 stood at 10,901.09, up 0.31%. France's CAC 40 rose by 0.17% to close at 8,714.93.

In Asia, Japan's Nikkei 225 slipped to 65,606.71, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng climbed to 25,568.03.

On 10 August 2026 at 7:26 am, GIFT Nifty was trading at 24,680.50, up by 39 points.

The futures contract was trading above Friday's Nifty close of 24,571, signalling a positive opening for the index on Monday.

The 24,700-24,750 zone is likely to act as the immediate hurdle for the Nifty.

A decisive move above 24,750 could take the index towards 25,000, followed by 25,200 in the short term.

On the downside, the 200-day EMA zone of 24,400-24,350 is expected to provide strong support. The index is now near a key technical zone, with the next major move likely to depend on which side breaks first.

1. Crude Oil Prices

Oil prices moved higher towards the end of last week as uncertainty around negotiations over the Strait of Hormuz continued.

2. Upcoming Q1 Earnings

The June-quarter earnings season is set to get busier, with around 2,045 companies scheduled to report results during the week. Tata Motors, HAL and Vodafone Idea are among the stocks investors will watch.

3. US Jobs Data And Rate Expectations

The latest US employment figures showed a decline in nonfarm payrolls in July. Payrolls fell by 23,000, compared with the 80,000 increase economists had expected.

The data has increased expectations of a rate cut at the Fed's September meeting, keeping US monetary policy in focus for global markets.

4. FII And DII Data

FIIs bought equities worth ₹2,911 crore during the week, following purchases of ₹5,949 crore in the previous week.

Domestic institutional investors also continued buying with net purchases of ₹7,768 crore.

5. Global Markets

US stocks have recently benefited from strength in technology and semiconductor shares. The S&P 500 recorded its first record closing high in two months during the week.

The index gained 5.75% over the four sessions through Tuesday, its strongest four-day rise since April.

The next major global trigger is US inflation data, which is due on Wednesday and could influence expectations around the Fed's interest-rate path.
