Sensex and Nifty declined in afternoon deals, with broader markets showing a mixed trend. Read more.

The Sensex and Nifty 50 declined in Tuesday’s afternoon trading session as traders closely monitored the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) monetary policy meeting and the US-Iran talks. At 12:06 pm, the Sensex was down 0.19%. The Nifty 50 was down 1.03% at the same time.

Broader markets reflected mixed trends. At 12:07 pm, the Nifty Midcap 100 was down 0.53%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 was up 0.36%.

Stocks of the following firms were the top five performers on the Nifty 50 index at around 12:07 pm:

  • Trent Ltd.

  • Hindalco Industries Ltd.

  • Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd.

  • Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.

  • Jio Financial Services Ltd.

  • DLF shares declined 2% in early trade after the company reported weaker numbers for Q1 FY27.

  • SBI Funds Management dropped 2% in early trade after the company reported its first quarterly results since listing last month.

  • LIC shares tumbled almost 9% in early trade after the government’s offer for sale to sell up to a 6.5% stake in the insurance giant opened for non-retail investors.

  • Ather Energy shares soared 18% in early trade after the company narrowed its losses for the June quarter to ₹51 crore from ₹178 crore a year earlier.

Several companies are likely to declare their Q1 FY27 results today, including:

  • Ajmera Realty & Infra India

  • ASK Automotive

  • Castrol India

  • Bharti Airtel

  • Happy Forgings

  • Multi-Commodity Exchange of India (MCX)
