NSE IPO: Speculation builds on ₹1,750 cap as lock-in period begins for pre-IPO investors
NSE IPO price band in focus as the lock-in period for pre-IPO investors begins.

NSE IPO price band is expected to stay below Rs 1,750 following the lock-in period start for pre-IPO investors on September 8, with the listing likely between September 21 and 25 and allotment expected September 17 to 23.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) is expected to enter the primary market soon after receiving approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), with its issue size, price band and listing timeline now in focus. Media reports, including Mint, have suggested an expected price band of ₹1,800-₹2,100 per share, although market experts believe the final range could be lower.

The IPO comes with the lock-in period for pre-IPO investors beginning on September 8. Investors who did not sell their holdings before the lock-in took effect will now have to wait six months before they can exit their positions.

Arun Kejriwal, Founder of Kejriwal Research and Investment Services, was quoted by Mint as saying that the NSE IPO is already structured as an offer for sale (OFS).

Kejriwal said a price band above ₹1,750 could make the issue appear highly valued and leave limited upside for investors participating in the public offering.

The final price band has not yet been announced and will be decided by NSE as part of the IPO process..

Reuters has reported that NSE is targeting a listing in the week beginning September 21, putting the potential listing window between September 21 and September 25, 2026.

Working backwards from the mandatory T+3 listing rule, under which an IPO must list within three trading days of the close of bidding, the subscription window could open as early as September 14 if NSE lists on September 21. If the listing takes place on September 25, bidding could begin on September 18.

Depending on the final schedule, NSE IPO allotment could therefore take place between September 17 and September 23.

With the price band and issue dates yet to be officially announced, investors will be watching for further details from NSE. The eventual pricing will be particularly important given the expectations already being formed around the exchange's unlisted-market valuation.
