Jio Platforms IPO Set to Make History: How Its ₹30,213 Crore Issue Compares With India’s Biggest Public Offerings

Jio Platforms’ proposed ₹30,213 crore IPO is set to become India’s largest public issue, overtaking Hyundai Motor India’s ₹27,870 crore IPO. Here’s the top 10 comparison that spans offerings from 2008 to 2026.
Jio Platforms Limited is set to make history with a proposed ₹30,213 crore initial public offering (IPO), which would surpass Hyundai Motor India’s ₹27,870 crore issue in 2024 and become India’s largest IPO by issue size.
The issue is scheduled to open for subscription on 21 October 2026 and close on 23 October, with a price band of ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share. At the upper end of the band, Jio Platforms would be valued at around ₹10.3 lakh crore.
The proposed offer places Jio Platforms ahead of several landmark public issues, including those of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) and One97 Communications, which operates Paytm.
However, Jio’s position at the top remains subject to the IPO proceeding at the proposed size.
How Does Jio Platforms Compare With India’s Biggest IPOs?
The table ranks the proposed Jio Platforms IPO with the nine other largest public issues. Figures are based on reported issue sizes.
Rank | Company | IPO Issue Size (in ₹ crore) | Year |
|---|---|---|---|
1 | Jio Platforms (proposed) | ₹30,213 | 2026 |
2 | Hyundai Motor India | ₹27,870 | 2024 |
3 | National Stock Exchange (NSE) | ₹22,569 | 2026 |
4 | Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) | ₹21,000 | 2022 |
5 | One97 Communications (Paytm) | ₹18,300 | 2021 |
6 | Tata Capital | ₹15,512 | 2025 |
7 | Coal India | ₹15,200 | 2010 |
8 | HDB Financial Services | ₹12,500 | 2025 |
9 | LG Electronics India | ₹11,607 | 2025 |
10 | Reliance Power | ₹11,563 | 2008 |
What Makes the Jio Platforms IPO Different?
Unlike Hyundai Motor India’s IPO, which was entirely an offer for sale (OFS) that allowed its parent company to sell shares, the Jio IPO consists of fresh shares. This means the proceeds from the new issue would go to Jio Platforms rather than to existing shareholders selling their stakes.
The difference is important when comparing IPOs by size. The total issue value indicates how much an offering is worth, but the mix of fresh shares and OFS determines whether the company itself receives the funds.
The proposed ₹30,213 crore issue would exceed Hyundai Motor India’s IPO by ₹2,343 crore, based on the figures in the ranking. The final outcome will depend on the issue proceeding at the proposed size.
