Jio Platforms Limited IPO: Meta, Google And 7 Other Investors Hold Stakes Worth ₹3.18 Lakh Crore Ahead Of 21 October Issue

Jio Platforms’ ₹30,213 crore IPO is scheduled to open on 21 October with a price band of ₹1,065–₹1,119 per share, valuing its 10 largest non-promoter shareholders’ combined 31.8% stake at ₹3.18 lakh crore; Meta’s holding is valued at ₹99,845 crore and Google’s at ₹77,306 crore.
Jio Platforms’ ₹30,213 crore initial public offering (IPO), scheduled to open on 21 October, could put a combined ₹3.18 lakh crore value on the holdings of its 10 largest non-promoter shareholders.
The list includes Meta Platforms, Google, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), KKR, Vista Equity Partners and Silver Lake. Many of these investors bought their stakes in 2020, and the proposed IPO price band of ₹1,065–₹1,119 per share puts their holdings at substantially higher values.
The issue stands out because it has no offer-for-sale (OFS) component. Unlike the large IPOs of Hyundai Motor India and Life Insurance Corporation of India, which included an OFS, Jio Platforms’ offering does not involve existing shareholders selling their shares.
The Jio Platforms Limited IPO values the company at a market capitalisation of around ₹10.3 lakh crore at the upper end of the price band.
How Much Are Meta, Google And Other Jio Investors’ Stakes Worth?
The 10 largest non-promoter shareholders collectively own 28,443,207,200 shares, representing 31.8% of Jio Platforms’ pre-IPO equity, according to data compiled from the company’s red herring prospectus (RHP).
Meta affiliate Jaadhu Holdings is the largest investor in this group, with 892,275,913 shares, or a 9.98% stake. At ₹1,119 per share, its holding is valued at ₹99,845 crore. Google International LLC owns 690,854,775 shares, equivalent to 7.73% of the company, worth ₹77,306 crore at the upper end of the price band.
The Public Investment Fund holds 206,931,899 shares, representing 2.31% of Jio Platforms and valued at ₹23,155 crore. The same number of shares is held by each of two other investors: Omicron Asia Holdings II, an indirect subsidiary of KKR, and VEPF VII AIV I, an affiliate of Vista Equity Partners. Their combined holdings are valued at ₹46,310 crore.
Silver Lake affiliate SLP Redwood Holdings owns 168,489,206 shares, representing a 1.88% stake valued at ₹18,853 crore. ADIA, through Platinum Jasmine A 2018 Trust, holds 103,465,950 shares, representing a 1.16% stake valued at ₹11,577 crore at the upper end of the IPO price band.
How Much Have Early Investors Gained From Jio Platforms?
Several of these investors entered Jio Platforms in 2020, when the company was raising capital from global technology firms and investment funds.
Meta acquired 5,54,938,340 shares on 7 July 2020, at ₹488.34 apiece. Google was issued shares at the same price on 23 November 2020, after converting compulsorily convertible preference shares issued through a private placement. At the upper end of the IPO price band, Google’s investment represents a notional return of 129%.
PIF invested on 10 July 2020, at ₹549.31 per share. At the proposed IPO price, the value of its investment has risen by 104% in notional terms. Omicron Asia Holdings II and VEPF VII AIV I made their investments on 13 July 2020.
These gains are based on the proposed IPO valuation and do not represent realised profits from a sale of shares. The IPO’s price band places a value on existing holdings, while the absence of an OFS means those shareholders are not selling their stakes through the issue.
What Do Jio Platforms’ Financials Show?
Jio Platforms reported a total income of ₹149,759.1 crore and a profit after tax of ₹30,052.7 crore for the financial year ended 31 March 2026. A year earlier, total income stood at ₹129,333 crore, and profit after tax was ₹26,120.3 crore.
The company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased from ₹64,170 crore in FY25 to ₹76,255.4 crore in FY26. Total assets stood at ₹6,15,594 crore at the end of March 2026, while total borrowings amounted to ₹70,781 crore.
For early investors, the proposed pricing offers a reference point for the value of their holdings; the actual gains they realise will depend on whether and when they sell their shares.
