Gold Price Today: Gold Holds Near $4,135 While Silver Falls To $56.93 As Energy Costs Fuel Inflation Fears And Shift Rate Expectations

Gold price today remained under pressure as elevated oil prices fuelled inflation concerns and clouded the US Federal Reserve’s interest-rate outlook. Spot gold slipped 0.1%, while silver fell 0.3%.
The gold price today reflects continued pressure on bullion as energy-led inflation clouds expectations for US interest rates. Gold remained above $4,100 an ounce in October. It consolidated after declining more than 6% in September. This despite a stronger US dollar and high bond yields.
However, the metal was still down around 20% since the US-Iran conflict began in late February.
Gold And Silver Prices Edge Lower
Spot gold fell 0.1% to $4,134.91 an ounce at 7:47 am in Singapore, while silver declined 0.3% to $56.93 an ounce. Platinum and palladium also edged lower. Meanwhile, the Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index was little changed after gaining 0.1% in the previous session.
Oil prices hovered near a five-month high following tensions over control of the Strait of Hormuz and resistance among US lawmakers to a proposed diesel export deal with Russia. These developments added to concerns about energy-driven inflation.
For Indian buyers tracking the 22-carat gold rate and silver rate, the international price movements provide market context.
Federal Reserve Rate Expectations Remain Uncertain
Traders continued to assess the Federal Reserve’s next move as it seeks to contain inflation. The central bank’s chair signalled support for keeping interest rates unchanged at the upcoming meeting. Following that signal, market-implied odds of a quarter-point rate increase fell below 20%, compared with a probability as high as two-thirds late in the previous month.
Despite the shift in near-term expectations, traders still saw a 90% probability of another rate increase by the end of 2026. Higher borrowing costs can weigh on gold because the metal does not generate interest income.
What Could Influence Gold And Silver Next?
Gold and silver prices do not move in isolation. Changes in crude oil prices, movements in the US dollar and signals on interest rates can all influence bullion. When the dollar strengthens or bond yields climb, gold and silver may come under pressure. Inflation concerns and fresh geopolitical tensions can also shift investor demand for these precious metals.
Those tracking the gold price today, the 22-carat gold rate or the silver price today should keep domestic market factors in mind as well. Prices in India may differ from international rates because of rupee movements, import duties and applicable local taxes.
