Zee Entertainment Enterprises reported its Q1 FY27 results for the quarter ended 30 June 2026. The company’s earnings were affected by pressure on advertising revenue during the quarter, while subscription-related revenue and digital metrics provided support.

The company’s key financial numbers for the quarter were:

  • Revenue from operations: ₹1,907.3 Cr., up 5% year-on-year (YoY) from ₹1,824.8 Cr. in Q1 FY26

  • Profit after tax (PAT): ₹74.3 Cr., down 48% YoY from ₹143.7 Cr.

  • Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA): ₹78.9 Cr., down 65% YoY from ₹228 Cr.

  • EBITDA margin: 4.1%, compared with 12.5% in Q1 FY26

The company’s domestic advertising revenue declined 11% YoY. Zee said the advertising business was affected by the Middle East crisis and cricket-related factors during the quarter. It also added that advertising revenue recovered in June following its acquisition of FIFA digital and broadcasting rights.

Subscription revenue was supported by higher linear subscription pricing, an increase in digital subscribers and higher digital average revenue per user (ARPU). International advertising revenue stood at ₹46 Cr., while subscription revenue was ₹103.5 Cr. Other sales and services revenue contributed ₹15.5 Cr.

The studios business also grew. The growth was supported by regional releases such as Tumbadchi Manjula and Rakaasa. Programming costs went up too, partly because of FIFA 2026 and the wider range of content available across platforms. Zee also continued selective investments in initiatives including KidZ, Bullet and Live.

Zee Entertainment announced the re-appointment of four independent directors for a second five-year term, subject to shareholder approval at the annual general meeting.

The directors are Deepu Bansal, Uttam Prakash Agarwal, Venkata Ramana Murthy Pinisetti and Shishir Babubhai Desai. The appointments have different effective dates, with Bansal's second term beginning on 13 October 2026 and the other three beginning on 17 December 2026, subject to the required shareholder approval.

The company is listed on the NSE under the symbol ZEEL. Zee Entertainment shares traded in a range of around ₹93.36 to ₹95.79 during the session on 10 August 2026 and closed at ₹94.42, up 0.24% from the previous close. The marginal movement in the stock came as investors assessed the company’s latest quarterly performance.
